R3 Pavillion for UWE during COVID

Following Lockdown 1.0 the R3 Pavillion was conceived for construction by architecture students at The University of the West of England. Built on campus to provide a much needed external aerated space to meet, work, learn and manage the sudden changes to the learning environment.

The process, which included a team of volunteer architectural students from all year groups allowed for valuable skills sharing, and a learning opportunities whilst navigating the challenges of social distancing. A truly enjoyable journey during the early challenges of COVID 19.

A Live Build for Students

Constructing with hand tools, using available ‘off the shelf materials’, social distancing and a student task force we achieved completion over the first semester working 2 days a week outside.
